Primary Care Mental Health Service
Herts Health are piloting a new mental health service in partnership with Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust (HPFT), Mind and our member practices.
The pilot has been jointly commissioned by Hertfordshire county council and Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group.
The service aims to improve access to the right mental health support at the right time by bringing mental health professionals into GP practices.
We are glad to introduce two new roles to our GP teams - Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner and MH Community Support Worker.
GPs are now able to refer their patients for a mental health assessment with an in-house MH professional.
The MH professional will have access to a number of services in order to best meet the needs of patients.
In order to access the service patients must be referred by their GP practice.
The pilot commenced in October 2019 and is due to run until March 31st 2021.
